Nothing ever happens!

We have just returned from two weeks holiday in Cornwall, very relaxing and enjoyable, will share more later. But do you ever come home after a break and expect changes, I for some strange reason think major developments would have sprung up overnight or the issues left behind may have been addressed. Then you arrive home there is a pile of mail to sort through, mainly junk, the grass and weeds have grown but nothing seems to have changed.

As a christian,I beleive change comes from within and before we expect the world or others to, perhaps we should be looking in the mirror, it's a good place to start.

Post office clerks put up signs saying position closed
And secretaries turn off typewriters and put on their coats
Janitors padlock the gates
For security guards to patrol
And bachelors phone up their friends for a drink
While the married ones turn on a chat show
And they'll all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow

Gentlemen time please,
you know we cant serve anymore
Now the traffic lights change to stop,
when theres nothing to go
And by five o'clock everythings dead
And every third car is a cab
And ignorant people sleep in their beds
Like the doped white mice in the college lab

Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
The needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before
And we 'all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow

Telephone exchanges click while theres nobody there
The martians could land in the carpark
and no one would care
Close-circuit cameras in department stores shoot the same video every day
And the stars of these films neither die nor get killed
Just survive constant action replay

Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
The needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before
And we' all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow

Bill hoardings advertise products that nobody needs
While angry from Manchester writes to complain about
All the repeats on t.v.
And computer terminals report some gains
On the values of copper and tin
While american businessmen snap up Van Goghs
For the price of a hospital wing

Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
The needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before
Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all

They'll burn down the synagogues at six oclock
And well all go along like before
And we' all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow

Life is full of choices!

How to know God's leading you (2)
07 Aug 2007 UCB Notes
'ABRAHAM...OBEYED AND WENT, EVEN THOUGH HE DID NOT KNOW WHERE HE WAS GOING.' HEBREWS 11:8
God guides us by closing one door then opening another. Abraham didn't know where he was going, but he knew he couldn't stay where he was; and that's enough to create movement in the right direction. Knowing you can't stay where you are is often the starting point of God's guidance. And it usually begins with an inward stirring and restlessness in your soul. Seasons have beginnings and endings. When a season is over, you sense it's time to move! 'They headed north [to]...Bithynia, but again the Spirit...said no. So instead they went on through Mysia province to the city of Troas. That night Paul had a vision. In his dream he saw a man over in Macedonia, Greece, pleading with him, "Come over here and help us." Well, that settled it. We would go to Macedonia, for we could only conclude that God was sending us to preach the Good News there' (Acts 16:7-10 TLB). Notice, when God kept Paul from going into Asia, Paul didn't stay there praying and asking why; he just kept moving. For Paul, trying something and it not working out was no big deal. He believed that his gift to God was his willing heart and his mobility, and that God's gift to him was that He would always guide him to where he needed to be. What God prevents, denies, or keeps us away from, is as much divine guidance as what He permits and opens up to us. Every door that didn't open, every opportunity you didn't get, every call that didn't come, is as much God's guidance as those that did. Think about it!

Be thou my vision (a good starting point for me)

The Purpose Driven Movement Vision

(The Angel Stadium Declaration - April 17, 2005) By Rick Warren

Today I am stepping across the line. I'm tired of waffling and I'm finished with wavering, I've made my choice, the verdict is in, and my decision is irrevocable. I'm going God's way. There's no turning back now!
I will live the rest of my life serving God's purposes with God's people on God's planet for God's glory. I will use my life to celebrate his presence, cultivate his character, participate in his family, demonstrate his love, and communicate his word.

Since my past has been forgiven, and I have a purpose for living, and a home awaiting in heaven, I refuse to waste any more time or energy on shallow living, petty thinking, trivial talking, thoughtless doing, useless regretting, hurtful resenting, or faithless worrying. Instead I will magnify God, grow to maturity, serve in ministry, and fulfill my mission in the membership of his family.
Because this life is preparation for the next, I will value worship over wealth, "we" over "me," character over comfort, service over status, and people over possessions, position, and pleasures. I know what matters most and I'll give it all I've got. I'll do the best I can with what I have for Jesus Christ today.
I won't be captivated by culture, manipulated by critics, motivated by praise, frustrated by problems, debilitated by temptation, or intimidated by the devil. I'll keep running my race with my eyes on the goal, not the sidelines or those running by me. When times get tough, and I get tired, I won't back up, back off, back down, back out or backslide. I'll just keep moving forward by God's grace. I'm Spirit-led, purpose-driven and mission-focused so I cannot be bought, I will not be compromised, and I shall not quit until I finish the race.
I'm a trophy of God's amazing grace so I will be gracious to everyone, grateful for everyday, and generous with everything that God entrusts to me.
To my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I say: However, Whenever, Wherever, and Whatever you ask me to do, my answer in advance is yes! Wherever you lead and whatever the cost, I'm ready. Anytime. Anywhere. Anyway. Whatever it takes Lord; Whatever it takes! I want to be used by you in such a way, that on that final day I'll hear you say, "Well done, thou good and faithful one. Come on in, and let the eternal party begin!"

Lead us ever onward!

The weather seems to of finally changed, and a warm sunny spell (summer) is upon us.The seasons do appear to be all over the place lately. Gods seasons are also I guess unpredictable, but there is a certain amount of excitement not knowing what He has planned for us. Pauline and I are just about to step into a new season in our lives and we feel a new sense of joy at what we are about to enter, we feel literally at an open door.Sometimes as we get older we feel we have nothing to give, but if we stay in His will, He will lead us into new areas of ministry whatever age we are. I woke up in the night with this Winston Churchill quote repeating in my mind.

"Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."
What an encouragement....
