Who do you think you are?

Watching "Who do you think you are"the other night, it was so interesting to see Matthew Pinsent uncover his family history. We watched as one member of his family was responsible for opium dealers and houses in China during the late 19th century, but then his tree went back directly to Catherine Howard the sixth wife of Henry VIII. This line then led back through Catherines father to Edward I and even further to William the Conqueror.
The Genealogist then said that going back to beyond this royalty had to be linked back to Jesus, King David, Adam and Eve then straight to Yes even God! Something to tell the grandchildren.
As Christians it doesn't matter where or what we were in the past the bible tells us.
A. We were made in His image (Gods) Genesis
B.We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalms
C. We are a chosen people a royal priesthood belonging to God .1 Peter
So unlike the false genealogy that the royals are linked back to God, we can be certain that if we believe and live lives dedicated to God through Jesus we are directly related to Him.
Something to tell the grandchildren and anybody else!!

VICTORY

Watching England last night, getting through to the final of the Rugby World Cup, was amazing they started the tournament as total outsiders, but have proved even their most loyal, doubtful fans wrong.Their determination, skill and courage carried them through against the odds.

There is something very satisfying knowing your on the winning side, not a smugness or a sense of arrogance but when victory comes after a competition or battle, victory is certainly worth celebrating. When sacrifice is part of that victory as so often on the battlefield there is an element of sadness but in our case as Christians we have even more to celebrate. our victory came with the ultimate sacrifice, but Jesus who made that ultimate sacrifice conquered death so we can be part of those wonderful victory celebrations that live on in our daily lives.

HARVEST FESTIVAL?

Thanks JM
"Enough plants and water to feed more than a dozen people is fed to livestock to produce a single meal for a meat-eating human. I'm no mathematician, but I'm guessing if we weren't breeding and feeding the world's 55 billion farm animals, we'd solve the human hunger crisis in approximately four-and-a-half minutes. Not to mention that animal agriculture accounts for the majority of water and soil degradation, contributes more to global warming than all transportation combined, and is responsible for virtually all of the rainforest destruction on the planet. Farmed animals in the U.S. alone create 86,000 pounds of excrement per second, and none of it goes through sewage treatment plants. The damage that commercial fishing has done to the oceans cannot even be accurately measured because it is hidden from view, but experts estimate that between 40 to 70 percent of ocean life has been eliminated by commercial fishing in the last 100 years, and as many as 90 percent of large fish are gone, probably forever."
